Independence v Sovereignty

The most important question in Scotland – Independence v Sovereignty.

Since 2012 at the beginning of my personal campaign for what was  Scottish Independence I could never have imagined the volume of the VAST Yes Community expressing a complete lack of confidence or suspicion with the SNP.

Clearly, something is wrong, very very wrong.  The danger is, the demise of the SNP, that becomes more inevitable by the day, could herald the demise of the Yes Community.  I say danger, because Independence has been inextricably linked to the SNP.  I prefer to say hijacked.

I have blogged and blogged and will continued to use every or any jot of communication skill I have to highlight this false association.  We need a different approach, we must see that the very term ‘Independence’ is problematic.  Every Nation has a Human Right on behalf of its citizen to control its own destiny.  This is not Independence, it is SOVEREIGNTY.

Wikipedia defines Sovereignty as Sovereignty is the right of a government to have complete control over its area. … A sovereign government is the only maker of laws in the land, water or air where international law says it is sovereign’,  So, let’s be clear, the Government derives its Sovereignty, it mandate from the PEOPLE.  This is an essential point.  The People are Sovereign and they REMAIN Sovereign and entrust their Government to deliver on the promises they made to the people.  This is called the Term of Office, generally 4 or 5 years.  At the end of this Term the People have the opportunity to judge their Government on its performance and RENEW or REPLACE their Government.

I HOPE READERS CAN APPRECIATE THAT SOVEREIGNTY OF THE PEOPLE IS ESTABLISHED IN PERPETUITY.  GOVERNMENTS ARE ELECTED FOR TERMS OF OFFICE.

The SNP has conflated these two concepts, and hijacked the Sovereignty of the People as an attribute of the SNP.  IT IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE.

So long as the SNP has this stranglehold over the people we will never be free, never achieve Sovereignty and we remain in a Political Argument we cannot possibly win.

THIS HAS BEEN THE PROBLEM FROM THE START OF THE CAMPAIGN.

In 2014, all credit to the SNP for securing a Referendum of the People to chose their future.  That was their job done.  But NO, they could not let go.  They produced and published their White Paper; a piece of utter stupidity, political narcissism.  From that point on the Sovereignty of the People was hijacked, in Limbo, with Sovereignty of the People established as a ‘political’ request.

To be clear: THIS IS A MASSIVE PROBLEM and here’s why:

Like it or not but the Scottish Government will NEVER win an argument with Westminster – NEVER

Because the Sovereignty of the People is conflated with Scottish Politics Westminster, a Foreign Power has total control of our Sovereign Right and they have massive incentives to DENY US OUR RIGHTS

So, here’s the reality:  Sovereign Right is a Human Right,

The Sovereign Rights of the people is being set against … OUR CURRENCY

The Sovereign Rights of the people is being set against … OUR STATED POVERTY

The Sovereign Rights of the people is being set against … OUR SIZE AS A NATION

The Sovereign Rights of the people is being set against … THE PERFORMANCE OF OUR GOVERNMENT

The Sovereign Rights of the people is being set against … OUR INTELLIGENCE

The Sovereign Rights of the people is being set against  …OUR OLD AGE PENSION

I could go on and on and on, WHAT HAS ANY OF THE ABOVE GOT TO DO WITH OUR HUMAN RIGHTS?

NOTHING!

The hard reality, the inescapable reality is this:

ALL OF THE ABOVE IS TRUE BECAUSE THE SNP HAS HIJACKED OUR SOVEREIGN RIGHT, OUR HUMAN RIGHT TO BENEFIT THEIR PARTY AND THEIR CAREERS

A final thought:

Imagine if you will, a prisoner, it could have been Mandela, has lost his freedom.  They have a Right of Appeal.  How would they argue their appeal?  The only basis of the appeal would be to challenge the Quality or Merit of the Conviction.  That seems simple enough.  So here is what they would NOT base their appeal upon:

        • How much money they have and what was the currency
        • How well educated they are
        • Who is now living in their house now
        • The debts they have accrued for their neighbours electricity and gas
        • What the other prisoners think
        • Whether of not they can survive on the world outside, etc

Unless of course, the SNP was arguing their case.  In which case one wonders if they will ever be released!
