Step aside Blair Jenkins?

I feel I must now update this blog.  I make no apologies for my blog at the time.  Because, at the time of writing I was very frustrated that the Yes campaign was basically the SNP vision for an independent Scotland.

The main, if you can call them that, parties launched a massive anti-SNP campaign based on the published ‘white paper’.  There was no voice challenging this approach.  I, and many others wanted the response to be loud and clear – pointing out that a YES vote was not a vote for SNP but a vote for an Independent Scotland.  My concern was that many Scots wanting to vote Yes were not being represented.

I believe now that this was about timing.  The great news is that Blair has lifted the Yes campaign and his profile and has achieved a great deal of momentum for the YES campaign.  The other great news came form the SNP Conference when both Alex Salmond and Nicola Sturgeon made it clear that YES meant Scottish Independence and the politics will be sorted out at the first general election in a Free Scotland.  Nicola went on to invite Labour in Scotland to re-discover and re-claim their roots in an Independent Scotland, free from the shackles and the Westminster, New Labour 3 line whip.

So, apologies to Blair for going off so quickly.  Keep up the great work.

I have left the original narrative untouched because, unlike our modern day ‘Orwellian’ politicians I am not trying to re-write history.

With Blair Jenkins as the Chief Executive of Yes Scotland we are sleep walking into a NO vote.  No disrespect to Blair but the vast majority of Scots haven’t a clue who he is.  With half a year to go and a Chief who is invisible, the YES campaign doesn’t have a chance.

Ask anyone in Britain who is the leader of the YES campaign and they will say Alex Salmond.  The media, who are mainly playing political games constantly refer to Alex Salmond as heading up the push for Scottish independence.

Let’s clear this up.  Alex Salmond secured a referendum for Scotland and for that we are eternally grateful.  That’s as far as it goes, his job is done, other than to encourage others to vote YES.

I find it breathtaking that such a fundamental question is even up for debate.  There are some questions that don’t need asking.  Do you want better health? Do you want more money? Do you want freedom?  So what is the problem?  Well it is MASSIVE and the reason we run a serious risk of sleepwalking into a NO vote.

What are the big questions?  Joining the EC, scrapping Trident, keeping the pound, scrapping the bedroom tax.  Well, if you believe these are the big questions you might as well vote NO.  These are not the big questions.  These are SNP policy pledges if Scotland gets a YES vote and IF, yes IF, the SNP party gets elected in 2016.  You may think that is a banker after a YES vote.  Well, here’s the thing.  After winning the 2nd world war you would have expected Winston Churchill to win the first post-war election.  He got kicked out!  So don’t imagine SNP are a ‘slam dunk’ after a YES vote, they’re not.

Because the SNP have hijacked the referendum debate and presented their policies to the Scottish people, the REFERENDUM is seen as an ELECTION – it is not.

We could reasonably expect the SNP voters to vote YES.  Why would supporters of the other parties (with the exception of the Greens – Go Patrick Harvie, you get it) vote YES.  That’s as stupid as supporting the Tory manifesto and rejecting the Tory party.

So what are the big questions?  Actually, what is the big question?  SHOULD SCOTLAND BE AN INDEPENDENT COUNTRY.  That’s the question, and that’s the only question because it’s a REFERENDUM stupid.

If we did get a YES vote and that is looking ever more unlikely, we then sort out the politics that determine how we go forward from YES.

Here’s another thing.  Why am I saying this.  Easy.  Because Blair Jenkins is NOT.  If he could do just one thing, make one point, than that is it.  But make it, so everyone in Scotland gets it.

Step aside gracefully Blair or history will hold YOU responsible for our children and their children growing up in UK servitude ….
