Sorry to Rehn on your parade

Just a quickie.  Watched the ‘big #ScotsDecide debate on STV.

Trouble with these debates is they are not really about the issues, they are more about the impact the scare stories have had on the audience?

What I mean is, a sensible question might be ‘will Scotland remain in Europe?’.  Instead we get, ‘What will happen to Scotland when we get kicked out of Europe?.  So, in a sense we are not getting a proper debate.

Ruth Davidson puffs herself up and announces to the audience that Olli Rehn has stated in a somewhat ‘contrived’ letter to Danny Alexander that Scotland simply could not stay in or join the EU if it is still using the pound.

Rehn

Olli Rehn, the European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Euro until July this year, warned it ‘would simply not be possible’ to become an EU nation if Edinburgh did not have control of its own currency

Seems a bit of a kick up your own bum from the man once in charge of EU Expansionism to become a EU Collapsionist (my word) by kicking out Scotland.

When Greece admitted they had lied and cheated their way into the EU then all but brought the Eurozone crashing down around their ears, was it ‘hard man’ Rehn who insisted Greece must write out 100 times ‘We must tell the EU the truth in future and promise to be really really good’.  However, the EU closed the book on the whole sorry affair.

So, here’s the thing:

Thanks to the EU expansion programme that has turned Ukraine into Russia’s Cuba we have Russian troops apparently pouring into Ukraine from, arguably, the largest nuclear country on the planet.

At the same time Olli Rehn tells Scotland,

YOU CAN’T GET IN, YOU HAVE NO CENTRAL BANK

While back in Scotland, Alex Salmond tells Mr Rehn, ‘The biggest nuclear power on earth is looking into the whites of your eyes mate and you don’t have a pot to piss in, because,

WE HAVE YOUR NUCLEAR DETERRENT

Well at least for a few years until it is gone.  However, by that time Mr Rehn and his EU Commission colleagues,

WILL ALL BE SPEAKING RUSSIAN
