Independence or what? the best kept secret

Is it me or have IQ’s just dropped?  We have been talking about independence now – probably since 1707, actually perhaps as far back as 1295 when we entered the Auld Alliance with France.

1295 The Auld Alliance

Independence or What?

To me, independence is about self determination, autonomy and self reliance.  Like so many in Scotland I passionately believed in Scottish independence and laid out my stall in hundreds of blogs.  My research into the capability and capacity of Scotland to exist as a viable single country confirmed the vast wealth and opportunity of Scotland – some say Scotland would have been the 4th wealthiest country in the world.  I believe it could and should have been even higher than that.

From the outset, while believing and fighting for Scottish Independence I could not see the sense in leaving the UK to hand power over to the EU.  This is what happens when politics is controlled by politicians who are mainly lawyers and journalists.  In my earliest blogs I was a critic of Alex Salmon.  While I respect his drive and determination and his achievement of our first proper referendum in 2014 I fall fall short of an admirer.  I was no more an admirer of the SNP and retain my belief that bringing politics into Indy 1 was a big mistake.  Independence is NOT a political question.  Independence is far far too important to be left to politicians – so I am out on that one.

We can see the debate at present going on over Brexit.  It is pathetic.  We do less trade with the EU than they do with us.  Does anyone really think that, for example, the major car manufacturers in Germany, France and Spain are going to roll over and allow the EU politicians to piddle their business with the UK down the drain on a principal – of course not.  Companies exist on margins.  If Mercedes lost the UK market at a stroke they would lose their own company at the second stroke.  It really is that simple.

The same people who want to promote Scotland in the EU don’t want Trump in the White House.  That is now a bit like not wanting dawn after dusk – it happens – live with it.  At least Trump is not a politician.  He might be a plonker but thus far he has not drawn us into £$Trillion cash and millions of lives lost fighting greed wars.  I have actually heard people decry Trump for his stance, ‘America first’.  They would change their tune if the SNP stated England first and we’ll get in the queue.

Like so many others I had decried WM for plundering Scotland’s vast assets.  Not just oil and gas, we also have fishing, renewable energy but most of all we have, or had vast resources of expertise in all fields that were drawn away after Scotland’s industries were trashed and their infrastructure dismantled.  I could go on about this all day.  Sadly, the only way to prevent Scotland voting for independence was to control the minds of so many of the population with threats, mis-information and promises of jam tomorrow.  Controlling the media and the political puppets in Scotland proved to be extremely easy – so now we are where we are (as they say).

If Scots think Westminster has a stranglehold over Scotland, the EU is several clicks up from that.  To some extent, Westminster’s control was somewhat subtle; at least compared to the EU.  The EU controls Scotland via Westminster like a blunt instrument.  They have overall control of our legislation, out entire trading regime, even the constituents of our food, the tins of paint we buy, the quality of our water etc. etc. etc.  Our sovereignty went very south a long time ago as did our fishing industry.  Worst of all, as the principal nuclear base in Europe we are the dumping ground and decoy for Europe and the West.  Scotland is strategically important.  Not because we are close to anything or significant in any other way but because we are so far away from America.  This gives the US thinking and reaction time while we are being vapourised.

So, so, so?  we want independence from the UK and also the EU – that will do nicely?  Not a bloody chance.  Westminster is number three.  The EU is number only number two.  So who the hell is number one?  In fact it is so subtle and deep rooted that we hardly even know.

So, here is how we find out.  Walk over to the TV and switch it on.  If you have Sky the scroll down throw the channels.  Stop at the first British one.  I know, I know, it seems to take forever.  We spend so much time in front of the box.  We rely on the box for entertainment, news and information.  Almost every programme is American.  Chat shows, films, crime shows, adverts, news, current affairs, documentaries, soap operas – in fact almost every bloody programme is and always has been American.  Our popular cars, Ford and General Motors – American.   Then there is our computers and applications and social media and phones – yes, you guessed, American.

But here’s a really creepy thing.  If you have switched off auto-updates on your various media devises they quickly become out of date and under threat.  Otherwise, American companies are in our homes, our rooms our bedrooms and probably our bathrooms every bloody night – making subtle little changes and updates and … well who knows?

In the 50’s and 60’s we used to joke that Britain was the 51st State.  Almost correct.  Unfortunately, States have representation, we are the 51st unrepresented State.

I find it almost unbelievable when I see the content of the US crap programmes we get served up.  Clearly, there is a conscious decision to dumb us down.  Let you give you a few examples for US TV.  I was watching ‘teen mom’.  Poor little sods, abandoned with kids when they are bit mere whipper snappers.  I have seen that in Easterhouse and it is not a pretty sight.  However, these poor destitutes in the US live in multi-million dollar properties and drive $100k SUV’s – who the feck are they kidding??  Have you ever noticed US programmes where this shriveled up, balding reprobate of a guy is married to an ex-miss world?  who the feck are you kidding.  Honestly, is there any reality coming out of the US – absolutely not.

But for now, let me give you a little understood but well know fact about the US.  Some say the richest place on earth.  Actually, how about the poorest by an absolute mile.  The US have so much debt they couldn’t pay it off in a million years.  First, here is an analogy.  You just borrowed a grand from a money lender.  You spent the money on an Ak47.  He comes to collect his money and you raise your Ak and say, ‘fek off’.  Welcome to America.  The UK is technically bankrupt on £1.7 Trillion of debt.  The US has $330 Trillion of debt – they have been printing the stuff like there are no tomorrows – but they have spent it on weaponry – so don’t expect it back any time soon.  This is the real America.  It really is that simple.

When we consider Independence we must think what we want independence from.  Let’s start with the UK, the EU and the US.  But could we survive.  That’s not even a good question.  Take the politicians out of the question because they know nothing – they are mainly journalists and lawyers.  Take the great brainwashed out with any old pied piper promise.  Scotland is massively wealthy.  Fantastically strategically placed.  Very highly thought of in the rest of the word – the Scottish brand can go anywhere.  Fantastically clever – we still are – even though the Scottish Enlightenment was a long time ago, we have not had sufficient time to become totally stupid.

Unless of course we believe the lies and deceit we are served up every minute of the day telling us we are too wee, too poor and too stupid.  We cannot seem to grasp that the richest country in the world by an absolute mile is so close we could almost row there – Norway.  About the same size, same population, same amount of oil as Scotland.  However, in many other respects Scotland has more going for it than Norway – except for 3 things: the UK, the EU and the US some might say it’s all ‘U’ but in fact it’s all ‘them’.  Take them out of the equation and over time we can prosper like no other nation.  And that is the best kept secret of all.

But why a secret?  what do they all have to gain.  The UK is easy.  Scotland or was is a vastly rich country in terms of water, oil, minerals, manufacturing, fishing, skills and intellect and now renewal energy.  On top of that is remains one of the scarcest populated counties in the world.  England was until recently the densest populated counties in the world.  England has almost always been a nation of Empire i.e. warfare.  For every eleven Englishman their is only one Scotsman.  I’m sure by now you can see where this is going….

The EU has been on an expansion programme since they got away with forming the common market and realised that WW1 and WW2 were non starters – Commercial WW3 is under way – or at least it was until Russia realised Ukraine was the new Cuba?  The EU has been snapping up countries like an 80’s computer game.  Scotland of course had a number of advantages for the EU; oil fishing and a vast nuclear base – OK, that’ll do nicely.  Sorry, forgot to mention they had no control over anything, that was Westminster – and they were on the same train – gravy train.

The US – now there is one.  Enoch Powell let ‘the cat out of the bag’ when he said that Scotland was strategically important to America.  This was at the time of a resurgence of SNP and the CND when America was forced to consider alternative options if the they succeeded in closing Faslane.  Ireland was the obvious choice hence the American interest in Irish politics, to our cost.  But why are we strategic?  the point is we are so far away from America.  A rocket at mach 5 takes an hour to reach New York regardless of what way around it goes or from where it was fired.  Suppose it was the USSR as was the fear at that time.  While they were taking out Trident, America had an hour of thinking time while their puppet decoy was being vapourised.  How lucky are we and how nice to have such an important role – official decoy!!

Just as a footnote and to keep it topical.  Proof that business trumps politics.  In the US the Law seemed to trump Trump.  In fact it was big business in the form of Amazon and Microsoft who were not prepared to tolerate Trump’s ban on Muslim immigration and they leaned on the Law.  And guess what?  politics, the most powerful man in the most broken society – came in second.  To all our Muslim friends, have a nice trip to the US, hope you didn’t have to wait too long at the gate – now ….. where did you say that wall was being built??
